How pre-recorded sessions work
Last updated 5 October 2026
Many sessions on Lobbies are a recorded presentation played at a scheduled time, so everyone in the room watches the same moment together. Here is exactly what is recorded and what is live.
Recorded
- The presenter's video and slides.
- Captions, which are generated from that recording.
Live
- Other guests in the room, their chat messages, reactions, raised hands and poll votes.
- Lobby, the AI assistant, which answers in real time and always says it is an AI.
- The host's team, who can message you, send resources and step in when you ask for a person.
- Offers and checkout: prices, seats and deadlines come from the host's live offer settings.
What Lobbies never fakes by default
- No invented attendee counts: the participant list shows real guests unless the host turns on AI persona chat.
- No invented purchases or "just bought" messages.
- No AI pretending to be a human: Lobby is labelled as AI everywhere it appears.
Optional host features
Hosts can switch on AI persona chat (scripted chat from a persona pool) and participant clips (short pre-recorded clips of past participants). Both are off by default and are set per host.
